Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the “Safer Internet Day”, organized by the Secretary of State for Digital Advance in Spain, in collaboration with the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) at the Reina Sofía Art Center of  National Museum in Madrid.

The “Safe Internet Day” is an initiative that annually promoted by the European Commission through the INSAFE Network and is observed simultaneously in more than 130 countries with the objective of promoting the safe and positive use of digital technologies, especially among children and young people, and their immediate surroundings. The “Safe Internet Day” is celebrated on the second day of the second week of the second month of the year and brings together millions of people from around the world to promote positive changes and raise awareness about Internet security, organizing various events and activities.

Upon arrival,  the Queen was received by the Minister of Economy and Business and the president of the Patronado of the Reina Sofía museum.

Queen joined the discussion on the importance of security of the Internet and the need to favor the use of technology in a responsible, respectful, critical and creative manner, as well as supporting this initiative, with the 12 and 13 years old children who were attending the event.

On this occasion around 200 ESO students participated, accompanied by their educators, from Parque School, IES Miguel Delibes, King’s College La Moraleja and IES José Saramago from the Community of Madrid.

During the celebration of the “International Day of Safe Internet”, different activities were carried out throughout the day. There were two auditoriums where inspirational talks were held for minors, educators and parents, as well as an interactive workshop for the youngest.
