Today, The Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit to the Amnesty International UK Office where a conference was being held on Improving Young People’s Mental Resilience and Wellbeing.

The engagement was not announced pre-hand by the palace. The Duchess made this appearance as the patron of Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families.

Kensington Palace in a tweet said,” This reflects The Duchess’ interest in early intervention in children’s mental health to help young people get support at an early age to prevent problems later on.”

During the conference, Duchess Catherine heard keynote speakers from the field of resilience research and met with young people and staff leading the ground-breaking HeadStart programme which focuses on building mental health and resilience in children and young people across the country.

AFNCCF said that they were “delighted to welcome their Patron to the Conference. HRH is a committed champion of children’s mental health and wellbeing and it is fantastic to have her here“.

At the conference, Duchess stayed till the end and met the attendees. She discussed the mental health issues and the recovery process with the attendees. Young people from all over the country were invited to join a panel discussion.
