Today, the Kensington Palace released few pictures from the reception Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted at their London residence Kensington Palace to welcome the BBC Radio 1 Teen Award Winners of 2019 on October 01st.
Joining them at the reception were chart-topping superstar Camila Cabello and BBC Radio 1 DJs Clara Amfo and Greg James. About the reception, Camila said, “I was so honoured to be invited to Kensington Palace to meet and celebrate this year’s Teen Hero finalists with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Hearing the incredible things these Teen Heroes have done is so inspirational! Their passion and dedication to helping others are amazing and they really blew me away.’
Now in its tenth year, Radio 1’s Teen Awards is the biggest teen event in the pop music calendar and shines a light on some of the UK’s most inspirational teens, seeing them crowned Teen Heroes of 2019 in front of an audience of 14-17 year-olds.
Since 2008 Radio 1 has held an annual event for teenagers aged 14 to 17 years. Originally named BBC Switch Live, the first event was held on 12 October 2008 at the Hammersmith Apollo. The event has been hosted by various Radio 1 DJs and guest co-hosts. In 2010 the event was renamed ‘BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards’, and includes awards given to celebrities and particularly inspirational young people.
It the 4th consecutive year the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have hosted a reception for the Teen Awards winner starting in 2016. Look back at 2018’s reception hosted by the couple. This year the awards will be presented to winners on November 24.
