The time really flies fast. It feels like yesterday when we all were looking at the doors of Lindo Wing eagerly to have a glimpse of first Cambridge child and today that little Prince is celebrating his seventh birthday. Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge is seven already. Okay, I am literally emotional now.
To mark the day, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared two pictures of the young Prince who is growing way too fast. The pictures were taken by the Duchess at the family’s country residence Anmer Hall in Norfolk. I must say I was a little bit disappointed with only two pictures given we were spoiled earlier at the birthdays of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
But I guess George is a big baby now and might not be happy when his Mummy keeps on capturing his every movement. But he still gave her toothy smile for these two portraits in which once he is wearing a green Mango t-shirt and in the other time a camouflage t-shirt.
Born on July 22nd in 2013, Prince George is third in line to the British Throne. We all remember the teary eyes of his Mummy, the Duchess of Cambridge when she and Prince William introduced their first child to the world. Earlier this year, talking at the ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ podcast, Duchess talked about the moment and said,
Yeah, slightly terrifying, slightly terrifying, I’m not going to lie. No, it’s hard, I like to decompartmentalise – what’s the word – compartmentalise, yes, the whole thing.
Everyone had been so supportive and both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and you know we’re hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us, and actually for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important.
But equally, it was coupled with a new-born baby, and inexperienced parents, and the uncertainty of what that held, so there were all sorts of mixed emotions. Everything goes in a bit of a blur.
The first official portrait of the young prince was taken by his Maternal Grandpa Michael Middleton at the Middleton residence.
On his first birthday, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took the adorable Prince to the Zoo where he was mesmerised by a butterfly.
At his second birthday, he was a big brother. The family welcomed the only Cambridge Princess in 2015 and George’s birthday portrait was one of the pictures taken at the christening of Princess Charlotte.
In 2016, Palace released some really beautiful portraits of Prince George marking his 3rd birthday that gave us another glimpse of his happy childhood.
In 2017, a very formal looking portrait taken by the Royal Rota photographer Chris Jackson was released by the Palace just after family’s Poland and Germany tour.
By the time Prince George turned 5, he was a proud brother of one sister and one brother. His 5th birthday pictures were taken at the Christening of Prince Louis who was born earlier that year in April.
This year his birthday celebration won’t be as big as the last year when the whole family jetted out to Royal’s and Middleton’s favourite holiday paradise Mustique. But I am sure the day this year would have been full of love, happiness and fun at Queen’s Sandringham Estate.
The family is living in Norfolk since the last week of March and George along with his sister Charlotte is being homeschooled since then.
In the last seven years, we have seen lots of happy moments marking many big moments of Prince George’s life. But this picture from the 2014 Australia-New Zealand tour will always be my favourite. Wishing the Future King of the UK a very Happy and blissful Birthday!
In other happy news, Princess Beatrice of York and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi got married in a private ceremony on July 17. The couple were married in a small private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor on Friday. The socially-distanced wedding was attended by 20 guests that included the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
Princess Beatrice, a history graduate, gave her Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, a beautiful tribute on her wedding and wore Queen’s vintage dress by Norman Hartnell. Queen wore the stunning gown in the 1960s three times. The dress was refitted for the Princess by Queen’s Head Dresser Angela Kelly. Another beautiful element of the wedding was the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara. The tiara was worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day in 1947. I wish Beatrice and Edo a very happy married life ahead.
