The Duchess of Cambridge is marking the Children Mental Health week in an artistic way. The Children Mental Health Week is being celebrated from February 01 to February 07 with the theme ‘Express Yourself’. Following the theme, The Duchess of Cambridge has recorded a video of herself while jogging in Norfolk where she is living with her family during the lockdown.

In her very first selfie video shared with the public, The Duchess of Cambridge said, “This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.”

Mother of 3 beautiful kids, The Duchess of Cambridge, donned a bobble beanie and filmed a special video message during a break in her run to encourage parents to look after themselves. The theme describes the week as, “Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good. t’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself“. Check out the various resources provided for the parents, children and teachers here on the official website.

“So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry – it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself”- The Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge is a great fan of being outdoors and has been championing the benefits of outdoors on our mental well-being for a long time. You all might remember the beautiful garden ‘Back to Nature’ that she designed for the Chelsea Flower show in 2019.

“And while this is Children’s Mental Health Week there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too” – The Duchess of Cambridge

Place2Be, patronage of The Duchess, began celebrating in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health and The Duchess of Cambridge has supported the week since its launch. Referring to her landmark ‘5 Big Question Survey results’, continuing the video Catherine said, “Last year you told me just how important this was that many of us find it hard to prioritise. This is a hugely challenging time for us all so please look after yourself too. Find ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.

In the landmark survey result that was revealed in later 2020, the research revealed that whilst 90 per cent of people acknowledge that maintaining parental mental health is crucial to support the health and happiness of their child, in practice, the majority of parents struggle to prioritise their own wellbeing. Read more about the survey and it’s findings here. Earlier this week, talking to fellow parents in a video call, The Duchess of Cambridge said that parenting and homeschooling during lockdown were very ‘exhausting’ and parents had to take more than one role during this challenging period.

Place2Be has teamed up with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy to release a virtual assembly – available from 9 am on Monday 1 February – which will feature pupils and well-known faces discussing ways to get involved at home. In other news, The Times reported that Palace and Government officials are working together to host newly elected US President Joe Biden at Buckingham Palace this year. Her Majesty The Queen will welcome the President and she will be joined by the Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. If the plans are successful then this will be the first State event with foreign dignitaries after 2019.  From the Daily Mirror’s report,

A senior royal source told The Times: “There is a desire from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to have a very strong royal presence before G7 events, and all senior members of the royal family will be part of what happens.”

She will return to London in time for her 95th birthday in June in what should be the first major national celebration since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Sunday Times reports. The Trooping the Colour military parade on June 12 falls two days after the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday.

After spending her actual birthday, April 21, with Prince Phillip in lockdown, celebrations for her official big day in June were moved from London to Windsor.

Aside from brief stays at Sandringham and Balmoral, the Queen and her husband have spent almost all of lockdown in Berkshire. Last year they celebrated their first Christmas at Windsor since 1987.
