The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined the Prince of Wales and world leaders at the COP26 events in Glasgow. The first agenda on their itinerary was a visit to Alexandra Park Sports Hub Glasgow where they joined Scouts from across the area and learn more about the Scouts’ ‘Promise To The Planet’ campaign as part of the COP26 agenda.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine were last seen at the Earthshot Prize ceremony on October 17th. The Royal couple arrived in Glasgow via train.

They took their three children on a family vacation last week as George and Charlotte were on mid-term break. The family was spotted at the Heathrow airport.

COP 26 is United Nations’ 26th Climate Change Conference that is being held in Glasgow, Scotland between 31 October and 12 November 2021. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Her Majesty the Queen was supposed to lead the Team UK at the COP 26 but due to health issues, her medical team advised her to avoid traveling. A virtual message was sent to COP 26. The Queen will not be attending the Festival of Remembrance on November 13th. But the Palace says she is determined to attend the annual Remembrance Sunday service.
In the absence of the Queen, Prince Charles of Wales led the Royal entourage. He gave a very warm and passionate speech at the opening ceremony of COP 26. Charles has been working on climate issues and sustainable life for more than 50 years. In his youth when he talked about protecting climate and oceans, many experts denied his claims, and today the world is lagging behind.

Yesterday Charles received various world leaders at his Scottish residence Dumfries House.
Coming back to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s outing with Scouts – you might remember that The Duchess, who previously volunteered with the Scouts, was a Brownie growing up and became the joint president of the Scouts last year. The Royal couple participated in activities that demonstrated how Scouting is helping to equip young people with the skills to tackle climate change.
The Scouts are working to raise awareness of the consequences of climate change and encouraging individual as well as collective action to address it.

One of their hosts was 12-year-old Lewis Howe, one of the 26 #OneStepGreener Ambassadors recently announced by the UK Government – extraordinary, everyday people who are going above and beyond for the climate. Through Scouting, Lewis is taking positive action on the issues that matter to him the most and challenging all Scottish schools to reduce food waste by using surplus food to create meals for those in need using environmentally friendly packaging.
Kate was previously a volunteer with a Cub Scout pack when she and the Duke of Cambridge lived in Anglesey, North Wales. She has carried out numerous visits to Scout groups over the years, including joining Cubs in North Wootton, near King’s Lynn in Norfolk, in 2016 to celebrate 100 years of the youth movement and visiting the Scouts’ headquarters in Gilwell Park in Essex in 2019.
They also learned how millions of Scouts across the globe have been contributing to the #PromiseToThePlanet campaign, raising awareness of the consequences of climate change and encouraging individual as well as collective action to address it.
The Royal couple planted wildflower seed bombs. Catherine completed a bicycle safety check and learns about how sustainable transport options can make a difference by reducing our carbon footprint. The Scouts’ Promise to the Planet initiative, will see them spend 10million hours per month on planet saving activities.
Camping and cooking definitely go hand-in-hand. From the Daily Mirrors report,
Scout Leader Eddie O’Rourke said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met Scouts taking part in our Promise To The Planet Planet campaign. They were a real inspiration to all the Scouts that are working hard to make changes to protect the planet. It’s great to see The Duke and Duchess to work with our young people and recognize that everyone is capable of helping and everyone’s effort is important in the fight against climate change.”
