Queen Letizia of Spain attended the closing ceremony of the XVI Convocation of Santander Bank at the Training Center El Solaruco of the Santander Group City in Madrid. Sixteen winning social projects received a contribution to be able to develop their project. These funds were generated through a payroll contribution of the employees of the Santander bank. Each employee donates something according to their will to the fund.
The event began with the screening of a video on the XVI call for “Euros of your payroll”. Also presented was the “Panel experiences,” in which the president of the DalecandELA Foundation, beneficiary of the Fundación Hay Salida among others. In this edition, a total of 695,788 euros have been raised.
Queen Letizia presented the funds to 16 projects in 4 categories: Health, Disability, Social Inclusion and International Cooperation. During the event, three winning projects of the Santander Call for Assistance of the Banco Santander Foundation to support the fight against poverty in children and adolescents in Spain are also recognized.
Addressing the gathering, Queen Letizia said, “thank you, thanks to all those who think of the others, those who start it so that the change is real, so that a person with Down syndrome can achieve a stable job, so that those who suffer from ALS have hope and there is research, more research, so that a young man with vulnerability feels cared for, so that a child with a neurological disease has the support, all the support they need in school, so that a girl who hasDon’t spend the rest of her life carrying the consequences of that cancer, so that a mother or caregiver, often both at once, has a respite, so that an old lady or an old man feels that she’s not alone and isn’t abandoned.”
