King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia of Spain welcomed the Board members, Sponsors and 2024 batch Students of United World Schools Foundation (UWC) at the Royal Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid today. Earlier in the day, Queen Letizia of Spain met with the BBVA Foundation Scholars.
UWC (Collegios of the United World) is a global movement that makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. The Fundación Comité Español de los Colegios del Mundo del Mundo (UWC España) was constituted on 11 November 1996, under the High Patronazgo de SS.MM. the Kings of Spain and the Presidency of H.A.R. D. Carlos de Bourbon, Infante of Spain.
The Foundation is responsible for raising the necessary funds so that more Spanish students can go to the United World Schools each year. At the same time, it is responsible for selecting applicants according to the guidelines set by the International Bureau.
Headed by its president, Alberto Aza, the students who obtained admission in the various branches of the Prestigious UWC discussed their journeys and experiences. Princess Leonor studied at the UWC Wales from August 2021 to May 2023, while Infanta Sofia joined UWC Wales in August 2023 and set to graduate next year.
