King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid for the annual ‘Francisco Cerecedo’ Awards. The prestigious awards is given by the awarded by the Association of European Journalists and recognize a journalist for their contribution to the journalism world. The winner of the 2024 edition is journalist Carlos Franganillo.
The annual event was held in the Royal Hall of the Ritz hotel and began with the quartet of music “Concerto 1700” that performed Zarambeques Teques and Fandangos from North to South. Addressing the gathering, King Felipe said, “in this complex scenario, journalism is much more than a tool for the dissemination of news“.
The award is endowed with twenty-four thousand euros (24,000 euros) and a medal designed by the sculptor Julio López Hernández. Queen Letizia’s patronage BBVA is the sponsor of the awards.
