Queen Letizia of Spain attended the event marking the 25th anniversary of the Aequitas foundation at the National Prado Museum in Madrid, today. The Foundation works to promote the legal protection of persons with disabilities or in vulnerable situations. The foundation is one of the top representatives of the disability sector.
Queen Letizia have always been the champion of people with disabilities and had been their voice in the society. She collaborates with various organizations and charities that work with people with disabilities and their families. The event began with the screening of the film commemorating the 25th anniversary of the AEquitas Foundation and the master lesson entitled: Disability, a human rights issue. Unlearned progress and challenges, by Soledad Cisternas, former chairwoman of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The Aequitas Foundation of the General Council of the Notary was established under the motto ‘We want to do more’ on October 15, 1999. Today, the institution is consolidated in Spain and Ibero-America and carries out an incessant work in defense of the legal protection of the most vulnerable. One of Aequitas’ main lines of action is the push for policy reforms to improve the legal protection of the most vulnerable.
