King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain hosted the annual Diplomatic Corps Reception at the Royal Palace of Madrid. Felipe and Letizia this week has been covering the annual events. On Monday, the Royal couple attended the Military Easter Parade. This weekend, Felipe and Letizia will be heading to Port of Cadiz to bid farewell to Princess Leonor who will be leaving for her 6 months sailing adventure on Student Ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano.
Coming back to the event at hand, Felipe and Letizia received the diplomatic Corps posted in the country and other accredited officials who represents Spain. There 126 embassies residing in Spain and almost 800 consulates, 153 careers and more than 600. The King and Queen were joined by the Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister along with other government representatives at the Palace for the reception.
The reception is an opportunity for the Monarch and the Diplomats to meet and set the tone of the year to strengthen bilateral relationships between Spain and other countries. King Felipe addressed the gathering, ” This reception invites us to reflect on the complex and unstable international scenario in which we find ourselves and in which we must face global challenges that challenge us all and that therefore require joint and responsible responses. “
