Princess Leonor of Spain is ready for the next phase of her military training during which she will spend 6 months on a student ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano. The Princess of Asturias boarded the Naval Military School Ship from the Port of Cadiz. On Monday, Leonor joined her parents for the Military Easter Parade that was her only public official event for the next few months as she will be sailing away with her batch mates to continue the military training.
Upon arrival, the Future Queen was received by the the Captain of Ship. Then she met with the several officers responsible for the operation and training on board, including the Captain of Corbeta and Third Commander of the Ship. Dressed in the Naval Cadet uniform, Leonor has joined the Student Ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano as the first-class marine guard.
The ship is ready to sail on January 11th from the Port of Cadiz. King Felipe and Queen Letizia will be wishing their elder daughter and her 76 classmates good luck in person before the ship starts its journey. The Student Ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano is set to sail America for the next 6 months covering approximately 20K miles. From Port of Cadiz, the ship will arrive at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, the Canarian ports from where it will leave for Brazil. The next destination is Chile, crossing the cross the Strait of Magellan the ship will sail towards the Pacific Ocean.
In April, its expected that ship will arrive in Peru and then will head for Panama. From Panama the next route is towards Caribbean Sea with stops in Colombia and Santo Doming. In Juen the ship will arrive in New York and in July its expected to complete its route and dock back in Spain at the port of Gijón.
But Leonor will leave the ship in New York and then head back to Navy School directly from there to complete the last leg of the navy training. She will rejoin the ship in Gijón and reach the final destination of the ship experience in Ferrol after covering 8 different countries in America. We wish Leonor very best for this sea adventure!!!
