Queen Letizia of Spain is back to the Royal Duties and the list of her regular annual winter meetings and engagements are being ticked off at a rapid speed. Today, Letizia stepped out for the annual BBVA Foundation meeting at the Palace of the Marquis of Salamanca in Madrid. Letizia is the Honorary President of BBVA Foundation.
The BBVA Microfinance Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2007 by BBVA to support the small and medium entrepreneurs with financial support. Since its inception, FMBBVA entities have supported more than 6 million low-income entrepreneurs through the disbursement of more than $20 billion.
The foundation is active in Spain, Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Panama. This meeting brought together experts to discuss the common challenges faced by the small and medium-sized enterprises, such as technological changes and Artificial Intelligence. The meeting also discussed cocoa producers income and business techniques to reflect on how small actions can generate great transformations.
Addressing the meeting, Queen stressed, “we meet again this entity so that we are aware that there are 3 million people at the moment, 3 million small entrepreneurs, who live in the five countries of Latin America where this Foundation operates and who go ahead every day because someone trusted them and accompanied them in their idea of setting up a micro company. 3 million vulnerable people who are progressing and providing their children an opportunity to study thanks to the micro-credits of the Microfinance Foundation BBVA“.
