On May 21, 2025, Madame Tussauds London introduced a striking new wax figure of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, capturing the attention of royal enthusiasts and visitors alike. This meticulously crafted figure, displayed in the attraction’s ‘Royal Palace Experience’ section, immortalizes the princess in a moment of regal elegance from the December 2023 Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace.
Adorned in a shimmering dusky pink Jenny Packham gown, silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Rania 105’ pumps, and a replica of the historic Lover’s Knot Tiara—originally commissioned by Queen Mary over a century ago and famously worn by Princess Diana—the figure exudes sophistication. The ensemble is completed with the Royal Victorian Order blue sash, the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, and replica Greville Diamond Chandelier earrings, once cherished by the late Queen.
It’s the same outfit that Princess Kate wore at the wedding reception of Crown Prince Al Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan in June 2023.
The creation of this figure was no small feat. A team of 12 artists dedicated a year to perfecting every detail, from the intricate costume—recreated over five months by an in-house team—to the lifelike features that define Madame Tussauds’ artistry. Notably, this marks the first time Kate’s wax figure at the London attraction has been styled with a tiara, a fitting tribute coinciding with her 14th wedding anniversary with Prince William. The prince’s own wax figure, restyled in a black Ede & Ravenscroft tuxedo with an Order of the Garter sash, star, and army medals, stands alongside, joined by updated figures of King Charles and Queen Camilla, completing the royal tableau.
Public reception, however, has sparked lively debate. While some visitors marvel at the figure’s uncanny resemblance and meticulous craftsmanship, others have expressed mixed feelings. Social media platforms, particularly X, have buzzed with reactions, ranging from praise for the figure’s lifelike quality to critiques deeming it “terrifying” or “off the mark.” Such varied responses underscore the challenge of capturing a public figure’s essence in wax, where every detail invites scrutiny.
