The competition represented an exceptional opportunity to value the use of Spanish as a language of scientific communication, through an innovative format. The “Solo de Ciencia” contest aims to foster science communication in Spanish by encouraging researchers and scientists to present complex scientific concepts in an engaging, humorous, and accessible manner through three-minute monologues.

The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between science and the general public, emphasizing the use of Spanish as a language for scientific discourse in a field often dominated by English. The national final featured eight monologuists, selected from a semifinal held earlier in Granada at the Teatro Isabel La Católica. The winner of this national final will represent Spain in the next Ibero-American final, to be held on November 28, on the occasion of the Ibero-American Science Day.
