In a moving speech, Queen Letizia emphasized the strength and relevance of the Red Cross’s values, stating:
“The Red Cross will not allow these words to wear out, because they are not only their principles but their constant compass for action. We must thank Spanish society, which supports this work—and in times of doubt or complexity, we must remember who we are, and hold firmly to the principle of humanity.”
The event was also a tribute to Murcia’s growing role in social cooperation and volunteerism, bringing together volunteers, local authorities, humanitarian leaders, and community members. The Queen was joined by key figures including the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the President of the Region of Murcia, the Mayor of Murcia, and the President of the Spanish Red Cross, among others.
