King Frederik X of Denmark celebrated his 57th birthday today. For the special day a balcony appearance was made by the King, Queen Mary, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine—and Queen Margrethe. The Family appeared in the balcony of Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen to greet the crowd that had gathered in the courtyard of the Palace. The Royal Couple’s eldest son, Prince Christian, missed the birthday celebrations as he is currently on a military training.
The Royal Life Guard, wearing red full-dress gala uniforms, performed a grand changing of the guard ceremony at Amalienborg Palace Square at 11:50 AM. This ceremonial event added to the festive atmosphere, with the public invited to gather at Slotspladsen Square to witness it. During this event, the Royal Lifeguard Music Corps premiered the King’s new tribute march, composed in honor of King Frederik X, as part of the ceremonial proceedings. Palace also released a new portrait of the King to mark the day.
Queen Mary was looking elegant in a blue Soeren Le Schmidt Wrap dress cinched at the waist with a thin Prada navy belt. She topped the outfit with her Belle Epoque’ Diamond Earrings with Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen Leaf Brooch and Gianvito Rossi Pumps.
