King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spainattended the Armed Forces Day 2025 celebrations on June 7 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. The annual event is held every summer to celebrate the Spanish Armed Forces. The Royal couple presided over the main commemorative event, which included a parade featuring land, sea, and air units, honoring the service, discipline, and duty of the Spanish Armed Forces.

This was the second time Tenerife hosted the event, the first being in 1986 when then-Prince Felipe participated as a cadet. The day aims to honor the Spanish Armed Forces’ service, discipline, and duty while fostering integration with civilian society. It has been observed since 1978. When the royal couple arrived, receiving full military honors and a 21-gun salute. King Felipe inspected the Honor Battalion.

The ceremony included raising the national flag and a poignant tribute to fallen soldiers, with King Felipe laying a laurel wreath. The hymn “La Muerte No Es el Final” was performed, and the names of soldiers who died in the past year were read. The Air and Space Force’s Acrobatic Parachute Patrol (PAPEA) performed a precise jump from 1,000 meters, carrying a 15-kg national flag and a banner commemorating the 10th anniversary of King Felipe’s proclamation.

A total of 3,266 personnel (2,841 men and 425 women) from the Army, Navy, Air and Space Force, Military Emergencies Unit (UME), Royal Guard, and Civil Guard marched 1,120 meters from Avenida de Penetración Sur to the Víctor Zurita Soler roundabout. The parade included 67 vehicles (e.g., Leopard tanks, Pizarro combat vehicles, VRC Centauro), 33 motorcycles, and 81 tactical vehicles like RG-31 and URO VAMTAC ST5.
