Before her birth, Male heirs of the British Royal Family automatically displace older female heirs from the line of succession. In 2013, Queen Elizabeth II made a historic decision ahead of Prince George’s birth and The Succession to the Crown Act of 2013 was passed. The Act replaced male-preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture for those in the line of succession born after 28 October 2011, which means the eldest child, regardless of gender, precedes their siblings. Princess Charlotte is the first women born after the Act and was not displaced from the line of succession after the birth of her younger brother Prince Louis in 2018.
