RAF Dacre Brooch

Description

Duchess of Cambridge was presented with the RAF Dacre Brooch in December 2015 at her appointment as the Honorary Air Commandant after Prince Philip stepped down from his position. The brooch was traditionally given to the best female cadet of the year and is the highest honour they could receive. From 1982 – 2015 girls were presented with the diamond and ruby brooch as a mark of their achievements while males were awarded a sword. Since 2015 girls have also been awarded with a sword.

Brooch features a crown and RAF designed in diamonds adorned with ruby in two leaves set in a circle of diamond. Duchess first wore the brooch in 2016 during a service for the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets and then in July 2018 at the centenary of RAF.
