It is known as “rare diseases” to the set of pathologies whose prevalence is less than five cases per 10,000 people. Although the most correct thing would be to call them “rare diseases”, the name “rare” is the most widespread and the one that is commonly used. It is estimated that in Spain there are more than three million affected, especially young people and children.

Together across borders and through more than 6000 rare diseases, work is being done to obtain more adequate access to diagnosis, treatment, care and social opportunities.
