The Duchess of Cambridge was wearing Veja Esplar Metallic Low-Top Trainers in May 2021 when she visited St Andrews University during the Scotland tour. The brand name Veja is dubbed “the most ethical sneaker brand in the world”. The French label Veja was set up nearly two decades ago by childhood friends Sebastien Kopp and Francois Morillion.
The €99 trainers are named after the Brazilian NGO that’s worked with Veja for almost two-decade. The label’s Esplar trainers are as eco-conscious as you’d expect. Carved from smooth leather to form a low-top silhouette, this metallic-trimmed pair is fully lined with fabric cleverly upcycled from plastic bottles.
