On Tuesday, Queen Letizia started her 2nd day of the 4-day cooperation visit to the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Haiti.
The day began with a visit to the town of Azua. Azua is situated at 130 Kilometers west of capital Santo Domingo.
In Azua, Queen Letizia visited the organic banana cooperative Cooprobata, to learn about the production and packaging of organic bananas.
The Queen receives the explanations of the project from the general coordinator of the Technical Cooperation Office.
After touring the facilities, she moved to the plot of the beneficiary of the project, where she observed the agricultural activities there and held a meeting with a group of women who prepared cookies with banana surplus flour.
Cooperativa de Productores de Banano Orgánico Los Tainos (Cooprobata) brings together nearly 200 producers, out of who almost twenty are women who have received different grants and loans from the Aecid and the FMBBVA to improve the product value chain and crops.
Several Universities are contributing to the project to make it successful and provide a livelihood to the natives.
The last stop in the Dominican Republic was the Cultural Center of Bani. Letizia’s visit was aimed to learn about the International Plan on teenage pregnancy and early marriages.
Doña Letizia had an informal meeting that was held behind closed doors with the presence of several adolescents who work as activists in schools and neighbourhoods in the provinces of Azua, Barajhona, Higüey, and San Juan to raise awareness of the problem of early pregnancy and early marriages and protect the quality of girls’ life.
The NGO together with Unicef and the Dominican Government carries out a program providing support to the girls who become pregnant and trained to prevent the negative effects of teenage pregnancy such as school failure, family abandonment or prostitution.
After the visit, Queen bid farewell to the Dominican Republic to start the second part of the Cooperation visit.
On the second day in the Dominican Republic, Queen Letizia chose a simple yet colourful look.
Letizia wore navy blue jumpsuit from Uterqüe Spring Summer 2018 collection. Navy Blue jumpsuit features a floral pattern in different shades such as pink, white yellow or green and colourful buttons on the front with a belted waist.
The dress is described as, “Monkey(jumpsuit) made in a delicate fluid fabric. It is a design of beak neckline and short sleeves with detail of lined buttons. The lower part has pantacor cut with a belt. Zip closure invisible in the centre back.”
Letizia paired the outfit with Mint & Rose beige wedges and gave a vibrant touch to the look with Uterqüe pink quilted handbag.
Same diamond stud earrings that Letizia wore for her first engagement in the Dominican Republic yesterday finished today’s first look. Next, we will see Queen arriving in the Republic of Haiti.
Today King Felipe and Queen Letizia are celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary.
