It was a quite busy day on Thursday at the Palace of La Zarzuela in Madrid, as both King Felipe VI and Spanish Queen Letizia were busy in receiving audiences from various representatives.
Queen Letizia received two audiences. In the morning she met with the members of the Mavi Calzada Handball Club New Technologies on the occasion of having proclaimed himself a champion of the XXXIX edition of the “Cup of HM the Queen” of Handball.
Handball Club La Calzada, a women ‘s club formed in 1995, has a senior team in the league Guerreras Iberdrola, the top flight of national and handball teams based in the highest categories of children, cadets and juveniles of Asturian handball. In 2018, the team won the ‘Cup of HM the Queen’ in Malaga.
Later in the day, Queen Letizia met with the representation of the Spanish Brain Injury Federation (FEDACE) as Queen has accepted the Chair of the Honor Committee of the IV National Congress of Brain Damage, which was held in Madrid on the 22nd and 23rd November 2018.
Spanish Federation of Brain Injury (FEDACE) represents and energizes the associative movement of people with Acquired Brain Injury (DCA) and their families.
Acquired Brain Injury (ACD) is a sudden injury to the brain. It is characterized by its sudden onset and by the varied set of sequelae it presents according to the area of the injured brain and the severity of the damage. These sequels cause abnormalities in perception, physical, cognitive and emotional alterations.
The Spanish Federation of Brain Damage is composed of 36 entities of families and people with brain damage. These entities together represent 9,270 people, 4,921 of whom live with Acquired Brain Injury.
