King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain together presided over the act commemorating 175th anniversary of Civil Guards at the Royal Palace in Madrid.
The event took place at the Armory Square of the Royal Palace, whereupon arrival King and Queen were received by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón and the General Director of the Civil Guard, Félix Vicente Azón Vilas.
After accessing the Royal Tribune, Felipe and Letizia received Honors, with salvos in charge of the Royal Battery.

After receiving the formal ascent from King, the commemoration acts were initiated with the reading of the extract of the Foundational Decrees of the Civil Guard of March 28 and May 13, 1844.
The parades were held by the Air Force and Land Units. The Civil Guard is a Public Security Corps of military nature and national scope that is part of the State Security Forces and Corps.
Its origin dates back to March 28, 1844, when by Royal Decree, the Civil Guard is created as a “special corps of the armed force of Infantry and Cavalry”, with “the denomination of Civil Guards”. In order to organize this new force, Field Marshal Francisco Javier Girón y Ezpeleta, II Duque de Ahumada, is commissioned.
Deployed throughout the national territory, with more than 2000 facilities and a number of personnel that exceeds 80,000, it is this human potential, the women and men that make up the Armed Institute, which makes possible the fulfillment of the entrusted task, for which the Institution tries to equip itself also with the most adequate material means.
