Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia are in Huelva to undertake a handful of engagements. To begin the day, they presided over the Scientific Congress closing the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Doñana National Park at Salvador Távora Theater in Huelva.
The Natural Area of Doñana, constituted by the National Park and the Natural Park of Doñana, is located in the western end of Andalusia with territory in the provinces of Huelva, Seville, and Cádiz. It’s known for its wetlands, migratory birds, pine forests, and shifting coastal dunes. In the park, Palacio del Acebron is a 20th-century palace, home to the national park visitor centre. Nearby, El Rocío Hermitage is a religious sanctuary dating from the 13th century. On the coast, Playa de Matalascañas has a seafront promenade lined with bars and eateries.
The Doñana Natural Space enclave, made up of the National and Natural Park of the same name, is a paradise for birdwatchers. In the early fall and during the winter one can enjoy the presence of thousands of water birds such as ares and ducks from northern Europe. In spring and summer, storks, herons, and swallows arrive from Africa, among other species, in search of food and a milder climate.
On the occasion of Doñana National Park’s 50th anniversary, the Ministry of Agriculture organized the “Doñana, 50 years of National Park” Congress, which is held from February 14 to 16 in Almonte, Huelva. At the congress, A reflexive look at the management and use of this natural space, the role of its main actors and protagonists, and the challenges of the future to address its continuity and conservation in the best conditions were discussed.
During the visit, Felipe and Letizia attended the screening of the video “Breathe Doñana”, and the opening table “50 years of experiences to face the future of Doñana”. This Congress was also an opportunity to confirm the commitment of administrations and society as a whole to the conservation of this unique enclave.
The second stop of the day was the City of Almonte. The Mayor of the city welcomed the King and Queen and handed over the city command to Felipe for the day.
The royal couple was welcomed by the members of the public very warmly.
The bishop of Huelva announced the celebration of a new Rociero Jubilee Year, which began on June 8, 2019, coinciding with the centenary of the Coronation of the Virgin, and that will last until June 7, 2020.
The Apostolic Penitentiary granted this jubilee that can be shown in the place where the image of Our Lady of the Dew is -or in the Sanctuary or in the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of Almonte- during the dates of the concession.
Felipe and Letizia visited the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, on the occasion of the Mariano del Rocío Jubilee Year, in which the Virgen del Rocío is located.
She wore Emporio Armani Crepon long dress with a polka dot jacquard motif.
The $575 dress is described as, “A star garment that falls comfortably about the female silhouette, enhanced by a contrasting polka dot jacquard knit. The plissé effect of the skirt and the elasticated flounces at the cuffs emphasise the femininity of the garment, while the lining and the side zip finish the now practical garment.”
Currently, the dress is available for $345 in both black and white colours. A closer look at the dress fabric.
Letizia topped the dress with a black skinny belt.
Letizia paired the outfit with her black suede Carolina Herrera slingback pumps.
