On Thursday, The Spanish Royal Family arrived in Oviedo, Asturias to kick-off the annual Princess of Asturias Awards Programme. In the next couple of days, King Felipe and Queen Letizia along with their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia will attend various events for the annual Princess of Asturias awards.
Prince/Princess of Asturias the formal title held by the heir of the Spanish throne. Currently, it is being held by the 14 years olf Princess Leonor. The province of Asturias is also Queen Letizia’s homeland. She was born in Oviedo.
The first engagement of the programme was a visit to La FPábrica – an old weapon factory of La Vega. This year’s Princess of Asturias awards are being held at the La FPábrica.
During the visit, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia toured the factory Warehouse which houses the “Carlos Sainz Workshop” and the digital photography exhibition “Beyond vocation- Portraits of a pandemic ”. They also attended a virtual round table in which the recipients of the 2020 Princess of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research individually reviewed their work and lines of research.
Princess of Asturias awards are organized by its namesake federation. Aimed at awarding the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out by people, institutions, groups of people or institutions in the international arena, they are awarded in eight categories: Arts, Letters, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, Scientific Research and Technical, International Cooperation, Concord and Sports.

For the first event of the Princess of Asturias Awards, Queen Letizia of Spain brought back her fuchsia Marcos Luengo wool coat that she debuted in 2016.
Underneath the coat, she was wearing her Uterque leather top with black trouser.
Queen Letizia was wearing her Hugo Boss Royal Ballerinas.
She carried Reliquiae Archy bag.
Her Elenca Carrera butterfly earrings and
Karen Hallam ring finished the look.
