Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia today made their first official public appearance of the year 2021. The Royal couple attended the traditional celebration of Military Easter at the Royal Palace of Madrid. The Military Easter Parade is a prominent part of the Spanish Royal and Military calendar and marks the beginning of the Military year in Spain.
The annual parade, that dates back to 1782 during the reign of Carlos III, began with the National Anthem and the salute of 21 cannon fires at the Armory Square of the Royal Palace of Zarzuela. The ceremony is held annually on the day of Epiphany at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
on January 06 in 1782, when the Spanish army recovered the Menorcan town of Mahón from the British army, King Carlos III ordered the viceroys, captains general, governors and military commanders to gather the garrisons on the feast of the Epiphany to mark the victory. Since then a traditional Military ceremony is held every year to celebrate the day.
King Felipe reviewed the troops. From there, Felipe and Letizia headed towards the Hall of Ambassadors, where they met with the local authorities, a group representing the National Heritage Administration Council and the representatives of Plains Castellanos Garijo.
The event continued to the Throne room like every year where The Spanish King and Queen welcomed the armed forces personnel from the Royal and Military Orders of San Fernando and San Hermenegildo, the Land Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Civil Guard and the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans.
King Felipe presented the serving men and women with annual military honours before formally addressing the gathering.
She was wearing her Carolina Herrera black Fur Collar Cape that she debuted in October 2016.
Underneath the cape, Queen Letizia wore Ecru Maksu Fontana Blouse.
The €154 blouse is described as, “High-quality silk blouse with a closed crew neck and asymmetric placket with contrasting decorative buttons. It is a unique and timeless garment that draws attention not only to its distinctive pattern but also to its fabric”.
The blouse is not available anymore.
Letizia paired the white blouse with a grey long skirt that looks like another new element as we never saw this skirt before today.
At first glance, I thought she is wearing the same skirt that she first wore in 2015 at the annual Foreign Ambassadors reception at the Royal Palace. But a closer inspection shows it is a different piece.
Queen was wearing black leather pointed-toe shoes with crossed grey-silver straps. She was carrying a bag in the same tone.
Letizia topped her look with a pair of black diamond earrings that she has in her wardrobe since at least 2014. The earrings feature star-bust shaped round black gem suspended from diamond hoops.
Her Karen Hallam continues to be part of her style in 2021.
A look at Queen Let’s previous appearances at the annual event:
In 2018, Letizia wore a blue velvet gown.
In 2019, Queen Letizia chose Felipe Varela gown with Emporio Armani Jacket.
Spanish Queen chose a gorgeous blue gown in 2020 that still remains unidentified.
So far we have no other engagement schedule but we will find this Friday what is in store for the Spanish Royals.
