The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today, visited Westminster Abbey in London where a vaccination centre is being run by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Royal family have been visiting vaccnation centres and working hard to promote the nation-wide COVID-19 vaccine initiative to encourage more and more Britishers to get their jab done.
Prince William and Catherine, who married at the same abbey in April 2011, were present at the poet’s centre at the church where so far more than 2000 people are being vaccinated each week. They met staff administering the vaccines on behalf of the local GP network, and some of the patients receiving their doses today.
Palace said, “In early March, the NHS opened the Westminster Abbey clinic to provide up to two thousand life-saving jabs each week to local Westminster residents. Run by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the vaccination centre operates from the south transept, home to the world-famous Poets’ Corner. The Abbey continues to remain open for a daily Holy Communion service. Doctors, nurses and countless other staff, supported by volunteers and others, are delivering the vaccination programme at more than 1,600 sites across the country ranging from cathedrals, mosques and temples to racecourses, sports stadiums, cinemas and museums”.
During the visit, The Duke and Duchess heard from staff about their experiences of being involved in the largest vaccination programme in the nation’s history, and working in one of Britain’s most revered buildings.
The couple thanked the staff for their hard work during the last one year. More than 22.8 million people have now had at least one jab in little over 100 days since the NHS vaccination programme began, whilst another 1.5million second doses have also been administered. On Sunday around 96,834 vaccinations an hour were were carried out, at an average of 27 jabs a second.

The signature Catherine Walker & Co coat in winter white is described as, “The precision tailoring is contrasted with an artisanal approach to embellishment. A delicate ivory floral lace has been hand-applied to the front of this soft wool coat”. Underneath the coat, Catherine was wearing a matching dress.
