After completing a successful Belize, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Jamaica. Prince William and Duchess Catherine arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Tuesday afternoon.
The couple is looking forward to a jam-packed schedule in the Caribbean country with a meeting with Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen and Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Jamaican culture and sports event after arrival, visit Shortwood Teachers’ College in St. Andrew, the Spanish Town Hospital in St. Catherine, the Jamaican Defence Forces and the Caribbean Infantry Training Centre in St. James and an official reception to conclude the tour.
Upon arrival in Jamaica, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were received with an official ceremonial welcome ceremony.
The Duke of Cambridge took the salute at the Guard of Honour inspection. They were greeted by a lineup of dignitaries including Lisa Hanna, former Miss World 1993, who is now a politician from the People’s National Party who is calling for a referendum to abolish the monarchy.
After the airport welcome, The Royal couple headed towards their first meeting in the country with Governor-General Patrick Allen and his wife Patricia. It’s been reported that The Duchess and Mrs. Allen have much in common i.e. shared interest for the well-being of children and families, early years, education, etc.
The tour is a very sensitive one when it comes to the diplomatic front. Jamaica is on the verge of removing Her Majesty The Queen as its Head of State and embracing Republic status. There was also a protest outside the British High Commission in Jamaica calling for the Royal family to apologize for slavery and pay reparations. It’s been reported that Prince William would be addressing the issue during his official speech at the reception during the tour.
Moving toward The Duchess of Cambridge style – once again Catherine chose a diplomatic dressing with a gorgeous outfit. The Duchess of Cambridge was wearing a bright yellow Roksanda dress that matches with Jamaican flag.
The dress was a customized version of the label’s £1,029 Brigitte Bow-Shoulder Crepe Midi Dress that was described as, “Roksanda sweeps the crepe of this pink Brigitte dress into a bow at the shoulder, then circular cuts the midi hem for a swaying effect.”
The dress features a stunning round neckline with a shoulder bow and flared midi hemline.
Catherine paired the dress with herAquazzura Cece 105 mm pumps.
She was carrying a white Salvatore Ferragamo clutch. Thanks to KateMIddStyle on Twitter for another fabulous id. The clutch is from a past season so it’s believed to be an old piece from Catherine’s wardrobe.
Another new element of the look was Sézane Celestes earrings. The £85 mothers of pearl sleeper earrings are made of gold-plated metal with a maker’s mark.
Next, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be attending a special event full of music and sports showcasing Jamaican culture.
