The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Catherine attended the Thanksgiving Service for the life of Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey with their two elder children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. It’s been reported that their youngest son Prince Louis was also scheduled to attend but due to undisclosed reasons he did not join his parents and siblings at the service.
The much loved, Duke of Edinburgh, died on April 09th in 2021, two months before his 100th birthday, peacefully at Windsor Castle, where he was living at that time with The Queen. The service was held to pay tribute and celebrate Prince’s life. Many European Monarchs and royals were in attendance to pay their tribute as the funeral service of Prince Philip were held during the COVID-19 lockdown and only 30 people were allowed to attend.
The service included poignant musical selections and floral arrangements inspired by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s wedding day. Flowers at the service will be arranged in shades of red, white, and blue and will include roses, carnations, eryngium (sea holly), and dendrobium orchids. Orchids featured in The Queen’s wedding bouquet and sea holly echo The Duke’s career in the Navy and affection for the sea.
You can read more about the service here.
The Cambridge family was the last to arrive at the service just before Her Majesty The Queen. Prince George and Princess Charlotte are on school break until April 20th. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just arrived home on Sunday after their 7 days long Caribbean tour.
A quick look at What The Duchess of Cambridge wore.
For the service, The Duchess of Cambridge was wearing a black Alessandra Rich Pleated Polka-dot Silk Crepe De Chine Midi dress.
Catherine paired the dress with Lock & Co Mayer Boater Straw Hat. Thanks to UfonoMore for the id.
The Duchess paired it with The Collingwood Pearl earrings.
Catherine teamed up the look with her Gianvito Rossi’s ‘Gianvito 105’ Black pumps
and Cornelia James Alice Gloves.
Princess Charlotte was wearing an Amaia Kids Razorbil Navy coat. The £140 coat was described as a “Classic Austrian merino boiled wool coat in lovely navy color. Its fitted shape is very warm. Casual and chic, light and easy to wear. Looks stunning with matching bonnet and any of our moohren hand smocked dresses.” Charlotte wore the same coat in green at the 2019 Christmas service”. Thanks to Bojana for all the ids for Charlotte’s looks.
Underneath the coat, Charlotte was wearing Il Porticciolo Smock Dress. The £170 dress was described as, “Perfect for Christmas and winter celebrations this dress can be matched with siblings: baby overall bloomer and brother overall shorts”.
As the Cambridge children are on school break, I believe we will not be seeing The Duchess of Cambridge for a couple of weeks now. The family usually spends the school break in Norfolk.
