King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain had an away day in Cadiz where they undertook various engagements. The Royal couple first attended the inauguration of the IX International Congress of the Spanish Language. The Congress is being organized under the motto “Spanish language, miscegenation and interculturality, History and future” from March 27th to 30th at the Gran Falla Theatre in Cádiz.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia were joined by The director of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and president of the Association of Spanish Language Academies (ASALE), the director of the Cervantes Institute, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation

The Congress of the Spanish Language was first convened by the Cervantes Institute in October 1992 with the aim of promoting research into the Spanish language. After the success of this domestic congress, in 1997 the first international Spanish language congress was organized where King Juan Carlos and Mexican President were the guest of honours.
During the congress, 300 participants from all over the world will reflect on the reality of Spanish, its past, its present and its future scope on the global level. The Congress is held every three years by the Royal Spanish Academy, Cervantes Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Union European Union and Cooperation. In the Congress, major transversal axes of the Spanish language and its international expansion are addressed
The King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the exhibitions located in the Casa de Iberoamérica. The exhibition included four different modules: “New Municipal Collection of Ibero-American Art”, “Academic Perspectives”, “Books and authors of the Viceroyalty of Peru”, and “Lies and wonders. Implausible representations of ‘the other’”.
Felipe and Letizia received a very warm welcome from the locals outside the theatre. The couple did a small walkabout and said hello to the locals gathered to see them.
At noon, Felipe and Letizia attended the lunch offered on the occasion of the IX International Congress of the Spanish Language, which took place in the Forge Workshop of the “El Dique” Museum of the Navantia Shipyards. The original 1878 Forge Workshop, one of the first workshops of the old Matagorda Shipyard founded in that year for the repair of ships. Today the space is a Museum of Cultural Interest in the Navantia Shipyard in Puerto Real (Cádiz).
Felipe had a solo engagement in the afternoon and visited the Parador de Cádiz, where he attended the CILE Special Session: “Unity and diversity of Spanish. The tradition and the challenge of artificial intelligence”.
In the evening, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were back at Gran Falla theatre where they attended “Tempo de Luz” Concert, organized by the Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development (AECID).

The €157.02 dress was described as, “ Iliana, made of lilac crepe fabric with matching lining. Straight-cut skirt with a slight front opening gives prominence to the central knot. It has soft volume in its long sleeves that slims the arm, clean finish on the back and midi length“.
