Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Rania of Jordan gave us the most awaited iconic moment in Madrid. The Jordanian King and Queen were visiting Spain with their younger son Prince Hashem to attend the meeting of the Aqaba Process. Both ladies met earlier in May this year in London during the Coronation of King Charles III but the visit to each other’s kingdom came after almost a decade.
Letizia received Rania outside the Royal Palace of Madrid from where they together visited the Workshop Schools and Employment Workshops of National Heritage at the Royal Palace. Both Queens first stopped at the school cabinetry and gilding furniture, where teachers and students were doing restoration work and making pieces.
Next, they visited the artistic bookbinding workshop school. At the school they looked at the historical manuscripts, restoration of book covers and chromatic reintegration on plate reproductions. The tour ended with a visit to the upholstery, gardening and gilding employment workshops, and to the saddlery workshop, where they were carrying out maintenance and repair work on the saddlery parts used in carriage harnesses and shots used in the Royal Palace ceremonies.
Later in the day, both Queens joined King Felipe VI and King Abdullah II at the Royal Palace meet and greet the dignitaries from both the countries. Prince Hashem joined the Kings and Queens. The Spanish Royal couple hosted a luncheon for the Jordan Royal Family. After bidding farewell to the Spanish King and Queen, the Jordan Royal family headed for Aqaba meeting in Córdoba they attended a welcome dinner in the evening.
The Aqaba Process, an initiative of the King of Jordan, develops a series of international meetings that seek to strengthen military and security cooperation, coordination and the exchange of experience between regional and international partners to combat terrorism.
Both Letizia and Rania were looking glamorous in a colour-coordinated midi-dresses. A definitely an iconic style moments.
