The British Royal Family was out to end the year on a dazzling note. The King and Queen were joined by The Prince and Princess of Wales for the annual Diplomatic Reception. The white-tie event saw the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, based in London greet the members of the Royal Family.

Also included on the guest lists are those who supports the work of the Royal Family in representing the UK at home and abroad attend the reception. This work includes the hosting of State Visits and The King’s regular audiences with Ambassadors and High Commissioners.
The preparation behind the reception requires hours of intricate planning by the Master of the Household and the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as the commandeering of almost every member of the waiting- staff.
This year 500 members of the Diplomatic Corps were invited for drinks in the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace. There are more than 170 Ambassadors and High Commissioners based in London at any given time and each one of them will have an Audience with The King shortly after taking up his or her role.
