King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain had their first official away day of new year when the headed to Lion where they visited the College of Early and Primary Education (CEIP) Gumersindo Azcárate which was awarded the Princess of Girona School Award of 2022. The school was recognized for the uniqueness in the humanistic use of technology – and for its commitment to a diverse coexistence and focused on positively impacting its environment.
During the visit, The King and Queen toured various classes, library and other school facilities to learn about the advanced education techniques used by the school.
They met with the staff and parents to understand the positive impact school is bringing to the society through education. School runs varioous projects such as Library 2030, a space to foster a taste for reading, with the explanations of Ana Belén Montiel, professor. In the Classroom of the Future, a place that induces the application of active methodologies and to use resources that favor the development of thought, with the indications of the ICT coordinator of the center, Elena Carreño.
