On arrival, Duchess was welcomed by a group of eager school children with beautiful flowers.

Duchess was briefed on the RHS national campaign and the many benefits of gardening to young people by RHS manager Alana Tapsell.

Catherine joined children at the Sensory Garden some bulb planting, that has been supported by RHS and has been shown to benefit children’s physical and mental well-being.

After planting daffodil (Narcissus ‘February Gold’) and fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris) bulbs with children Duchess moved to the Outdoor Learning area.

Here children are taught how to whittle to make bug homes. These tasks help build life skills such as confidence, teamwork and communication.

When the homes are completed they form part of ‘Bug-Ingham Palace’.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the RHS campaign, Duchess of Cambridge cut a cake and congratulates all the teachers, volunteers and pupils at Robin Hood on their hard work in the garden.

During the outing, Catherine said, “I’ve got such fond memories of being in the garden and being outside from my own childhood and I’m sharing that with my own children George and Charlotte”.

Duchess of Cambridge Catherine today visited Foundling Museum in London to find out more about the Museum’s history. The Museum explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UK’s first children’s charity and first public art gallery.

The Foundling Hospital, which continues today as the children’s charity Coram, was established in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment.

Duchess’ visit was aimed to learn about how the Museum aims to give young people new skills, an understanding of history, and a space in which their voices are heard.

At museum, Catherine viewed an exhibition about the history of the Foundling Museum.

The exhibition exhibits the history from 1741 when the first babies were admitted, to 1954 when the last pupil was placed in foster care, the Foundling Hospital cared for and educated around 25,000 children.

The Duchess viewed tokens which were left by mothers with their babies at The Foundling Hospital so they could identify them.

Duchess met little Louisa, aged 11, who took part in art therapy sessions at Great Ormond Street Hospital run by the Foundling Museum there.

It was the second attendance of royal couple at this event. Before this, they were here in 2014.

Few hours before the performance, Oxford Circus (the tube station close to the Palladium) was locked down due to some incident. Once the scene was investigated, the green signal was given to Royal Variety Performance.
