On Thursday night, Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the ceremony of delivery of Journalism awards hosted by the ABC newspaper annually at ABC house in Madrid. The prizes delivered in three major categories are worth €10,000.
The prize “Mariano de Cavia”, instituted in 1920, distinguishes articles or chronicles with signature or a usual pseudonym. This year the awards go to filmmaker José Luis Garci, for his article “Hollywood Gil”, published in the newspaper ABC on December 26, 2016
For its part, the “Luca de Tena” prize, created in 1929, recognizes outstanding journalistic trajectories in the defense of the values that inspire the founding principles of ABC: technical innovation, literary requirement, and informative independence. This award goes to the director of the newspaper “El Mercurio”, of Santiago de Chile, Cristián Zegers, for his career as the head of the newspaper of reference of the Chilean press.
Finally, cartoonist Andrés Rábago García “El Roto”, for the cartoon published in the newspaper “El País” on January 23, 2016, was given the prize “Mingote”, that is been awarded since 1966, alternatively to jokes, cartoons, or drawings and photographs.
Queen Letizia who herself was a successful and prominent journalist before marrying the then Prince Felipe, addressed the gathering and remarked, “these almost centennial awards of the newspaper ABC” honour “the work of our three winners and, by extension, to remember the validity of the press – journalism, journalists – be, you are, that stable and rigorous reference “.
Usually King and Queen both attend the ceremony, but tonight Queen attended the event alone. For the occasion, Queen Letizia chose a bold and beautiful Spanish look.
Letizia wore a burgundy Sleeveless silk jumpsuit from Spanish label Angel Schlesser. The Wide sleeveless jumpsuit, with peak vee-neckline and matching belt marking the waist, belongs to the labels current Fall/Winter collection. The jumpsuit is currently retailing online at €430.00.
Queen paired the bold and beautiful number with made in Spain ‘Spiga Pink’ handbag from Tita Madrid. The €290.00 handbag in a mix of burgundy, mustard, pink and nude tones is made from pink cowhide leather and features a chevron patterned velvet flap front.
Queen chose her trusty LODI ‘Sara’ ombre patent pumps for the evening.
Letizia finished her look with dazzling Yanes diamond girandole chandelier earrings, Cartier white gold-diamond column bracelet, and the mysterious green stone ring that we are seen almost regularly since last month.
