King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain presented the National Cultural Awards for the year 2017 at the National Museum of the Prado in Madrid.
Upon arrival, they were received by the Minister of Culture and Sports and the director of the National Museum of the Prado.
The Royal couple took their seats in the Museum before the awards.
The awards, granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and grouped by different thematic areas, are intended to promote cultural activities, understanding as a service to citizens, and to express the recognition of of people or institutions that , either with their works, or through their active participation in various areas of artistic or literary creation, contribute to the enrichment of Spain’s cultural heritage.
This year awards were presented in 6 categories: Fine Arts, Book Reading, Performing Arts & Music, Historical Heritage, Cultural Industries, Bullfighting. Felipe and Letizia presenting the awards to the winners.
Speaking at the event King Felipe said, “Today is a day in which we celebrate both the milestones of the Spanish creation and the dedication and daily exercise that make them possible. The result is a lot of effort, a lot of imagination and a lot of inspiration, these are necessary faculties for life, not only for artistic creation, all our efforts demand that we put our hearts into them, that we give the best of ourselves and, at the same time, we are willing to receive the unexpected, that we give an opportunity to the world of imagination, which has to tell us so much when we stop to listen to it “.
After the award ceremony, the royal couple visited Villanueva building in front of the painting “El Paso de la lagoon Estigia”, they signed the commemorative book of the 200th Anniversary of the Prado Museum. Felipe and Letizia stood for a group photo with the winners.
Queen paired the dress with Lodi Debra pumps.
Her TOUS black diamond long chain earrings finished the look.
