Queen Letizia attended the final of this edition of FameLab, the seventh in Spain of this contest of scientific monologues, which aims to promote the dissemination of science through an innovative format, combined with wit and humour.
After Queen took her seat, an audiovisual about FameLab was screened, and Eduardo Aldán, television presenter and monologist announced the eight monologists who participated in the final, with an individual exhibition of approximately 3 minutes. , which the jury assessed at the end of each one.
FameLab is an international scientific monologue contest that was first held in 2005 based on an original idea of the Cheltenham Festival. Its main objective is to promote the dissemination of science by identifying, training and making new talents known, new spokespersons for science through an innovative format, the scientific monologue. In this edition, it has the collaboration of Obra Social “la Caixa”.
Since 2007, thanks to the association of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology and British Council Spain, Famelab has become a global event, with competitions being held today in more than 30 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa and also the United States. Worldwide there are already more than 8,000 scientists who have participated in any of its editions. In Spain, seven editions of growing success have already been celebrated, filling theatres and popularizing a new format of scientific dissemination that has burst in force: the scientific monologue, programmed by cultural entities throughout the country.
Queen Letizia presented the trophies to the winners that involve the first prize of a ticket to travel to the international final of FameLab in the Cheltenham-United Kingdom.
For the event, Queen Letizia chose to bring back a fan favourite.
She was wearing a navy Mango Jumpsuit that she first wore in March 2015 at Children’s Literacy Awards Ceremony.
