King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain today presided over the meeting of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Academy in Madrid. The meeting was held at the plenary hall of this three-hundred-year-old institution founded in 1713.
The agenda of the meeting was the preparations of the academic program – XVI Congress of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language (ASALE), which will take place in Seville, from 4 to 8 of November 2019. In the plenary session of today, the royal couple was also informed about the new digital projects of the institution: Language and artificial intelligence, Digital academic dictionary and Linguistic recommendation of the day. A couple of new books were also presented during the meeting.
The ASALE, founded in Mexico in 1951, has organized since its creation fifteen ordinary congresses scheduled every four years. Today’s plenary session took place at the institutional headquarters of the RAE, inaugurated on April 1, 1894, in an act chaired by the regent queen María Cristina, accompanied by her son Alfonso XIII, then still a minor. The land on which the building was built – a project of the architect Miguel Aguado de la Sierra – had been ceded by the Crown for that purpose.
The link between the Royal House and the Academy has been constant since its creation at the initiative of the Marquis of Villena, Juan Manuel Fernández Pacheco. Felipe and Letizia also attended the inauguration of the VIII International Congress of the Spanish Language (Córdoba, Argentina), on March 27, 2019, during their Argentina visit.
For the day, Queen chose to keep her look minimum by wearing a basic professional outfit. She was wearing blue Felipe Varela button-down shirt that she has in her wardrobe for a long time.
The new element of the look was sky blue Hugo Boss High-waisted pencil skirt.
The £199 skirt from label’s 2018 collection was described as, “A streamlined skirt by BOSS Womenswear, designed in Portuguese bonded micro fabric features a fabric belt with a covered buckle and metal eyelets at the high waist. This midi-length pencil skirt offers a regular rise, flattering dividing seams and a front slit at the right knee.”
She paired the outfit with blue Magrit Python Pumps and carried Magrit Hawa Clutch.
She finished her look with Bvlgari Aquamarine Hoop earrings and
Karen Hallam ring.
