After spending a day with the volunteers of Red Cross, today, Queen Letizia was back in Palace to attend virtual meetings. Letizia and King Felipe of Spain today started their day with a videoconference with the president of the General Council Official Medical Associations and the General Council of Official Nursing College.
Felipe and Letizia have been in contact with nearly fifty hospitals and health areas throughout Spain since the pandemic outbreak. The General Council of Official Medical Associations is the body that groups, coordinates and represents all Official Medical Associations at the state level and has the status of a Public Law Corporation with its own legal personality and full capacity in the fulfilment of its purposes.
The General Council of Medical Colleges is aware of the difficult social and economic moment, but they consider that the return to normality should also take into account economic, health and public health criteria. The CGCOM has launched a working group whose objective is to prepare a document that serves as an argument for the corporation to raise its opinion before society, which contemplates a present and future health model project that is capable of absorbing the lessons that This pandemic leaves us and build trust in professionals and in society.
The College Nursing Organization is made up of the General Nursing Council, 17 Autonomous Councils and 52 Provincial Colleges. Its president Florencio Perez Raya explained the analysis of the health crisis, the proposals from the nursing profession and the direct human impact of the pandemic in Spain, with one of the highest rates of contagion among healthcare professionals in the European Union.
