The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a very special guest at their London residence earlier this week- Sir David Attenborough. Sir David was there to show his new film – ‘A Life On Our Planet’ to Prince William. The movie will premiere in cinemas on Monday, September 28 and on Netflix October 04. It was delayed due to the COVID-19.
From WWF, “In his 94 years, Attenborough has visited every continent on the globe, documenting the living world in all its variety and wonder. Now, for the first time, he reflects upon both the defining moments of his life as a naturalist and the devastating changes he has seen.”
Kensington Palace, later on, released the pictures of Sir Attenborough meeting Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family, wearing colour-coordinated blue clothes, met with Sir Attenborough in the gardens of Kensington Palace just after the outdoor screening of the new film. Two director chairs having their names were set outside but William and David sat on each other’s chair.

In the new ITV documentary in which The Duke and Duchess are talking to David Attenborough, it is revealed that Prince George, Princess Charlotte are a huge fan of the man who is on a mission to save the natural world. Speaking in the documentary, Prince William said,
“Now I’ve got George, Charlotte and now Louis in my life, your outlook does change. You want to hand over to the next generation, the wildlife, in a much better condition.”
The Duchess revealed the small secret during 2019 Birkenhead visit, where she and Duke joined David to attend the naming ceremony of the UK’s new polar research ship, the “Royal Research Ship Sir David Attenborough” at the Cammell Laird shipyard.
In the pictures shared by the palace, we can see the happiness radiating from the kids who were delighted to meet the TV star much to the amusement of their parents. From Mirror’s report,
William and Kate are also seen chatting to Sir David in a new ITV documentary which airs on October 5, with the Duchess saying of her children: “They’re massive fans.”
In Prince William: A Planet for Us All, the Duke says becoming a father to Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis has spurred him on to do more to save the planet.
“I have always loved nature, but fatherhood has given me a new sense of purpose,” he says. “Now I’ve got George, Charlotte and Louis in my life, your outlook does change. You want to hand over to the next generation, the wildlife, in a much better condition.”
Prince George received a precious gift from the legendary Natural Historian – a 23million-year-old shark tooth. The tooth ( Carcharocles megalodon – once the most fearsome predator to reign the seas.) was found by Sir David on a family holiday to Malta in the 1960s in yellow limestone It belongs to the Miocene period. George looked absolutely thrilled and was seen keenly examining the tooth in the pictures. Megalodon, meaning “big tooth”, is an extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, during the Early Miocene to the Pliocene. It was formerly thought to be a member of the family Lamnidae and a close relative of the great white shark. Carcharocles megalodon was once the most fearsome predator to reign the seas.
Prince William and Sir David Attenborough shared a long-standing love for nature and its preferences. They have worked together for many years to tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges our planet faces. The duo is set to collaborate later this year on the inaugural Earth shot Prize, a global environmental prize that is said to be “an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a decade of action to repair the planet.” Sir David Attenborough presented Prince William with his book bearing the same name as the film – ‘A Life On Our Planet‘.
