Queen Letizia of Spain participated in the “International Safe Internet Day” 2021 that is being celebrated around the world on February 9, under the theme in this edition “A better Internet starts with you: more connected, more secure”. SID is held on the second day of the second week of the second month of the year and brings together millions of people from around the world to promote positive change and raise awareness about Internet safety, organizing different events and activities.
An event promoted by the INSAFE / INHOPE network with the support of the European Commission is held every February with the aim of promoting safe and positive use of digital technologies, especially among children and young people. Speaking in the first virtual event, Letizia said, “We must try to make compatible a responsible, respectful, critical and creative use of technology for all citizens, especially minors, with the development of digital skills to promote inclusive and sustainable progress that guarantees social well-being “.
This day not only aims to create a safer Internet but a better Internet, to turn it into a space in which we all make use of technology in a responsible, respectful, critical and creative way. The SID targets children and young people, parents and guardians, teachers, educators and social workers, as well as businesses and policymakers, encouraging them to actively participate in creating a better Internet.
Queen Letizia of Spain was wearing her Carolina Herrera Longline green suit that she wore during a visit to Ágora Sociocultural Center in A Coruña to announce the winner of Princess Girona Foundation’s award in Social Category for the year 2020 in February 2020.
