The Spanish Royal Family was in Oviedo for the annual Princess of Asturias Awards. Princess Leonor, who is currently studying International Baccalaureate in Wales, was back in Spain for the awards. The three days long annual event is a very crucial part of the Royal calendar.
Prince/Princess of Asturias the formal title held by the heir of the Spanish throne. Currently, it is being held by the 15 years old Princess Leonor. The province of Asturias is also Queen Letizia’s homeland. She was born in Oviedo.
Princess of Asturias awards are organized by its namesake federation. Aimed at awarding the scientific, technical, cultural, social, and humanitarian work carried out by people, institutions, groups of people or institutions in the international arena, they are awarded in eight categories: Arts, Letters, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, Scientific Research and Technical, International Cooperation, Concord and Sports.
Just like every year, the first part of the Oviedo itinerary was the Princess of Asturias Awards Concert. King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofia attended the annual concert at the “Prince Felipe ” Palace of Congress Auditorium in Oviedo.
This year’s concert paid tribute to Joaquín Rodrigo who won the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts 25 years ago. Upon arrival, The Royal family was received by the President of the Principality of Asturias, the President of the General Board of the Principality of Asturias, the Government delegate in the Principality of Asturias, the Mayor of Oviedo, the president of the Princess of Asturias Foundation and the director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation.
This was the first time Leonor and Sofia joined their parents for the concert. The concert began with the National Anthem performed by the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra.
After the event, The Royal family met with the performers behind the stage and then greeted the guests of the event. Later in the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia presided over the dinner that the Princess of Asturias Foundation offered to the members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and the recipients of the 2021 Princess of Asturias Awards.
For the first event of the Awards, Queen Letizia chose an Olive green dress that still remains unidentified.
The dress features flutter sleeves, wrap-cut back with feathers on the side slit.
Letizia paired the dress with her golden Magrit slingback pumps.
She was carrying Magrit’s ‘Alice’ clutch in a matching golden tone.
A pair of gold hoop earrings and her Karen Hallam ring finished the look.
