As we talked about Princess Leonor’s Easter break plans earlier this week and Palace making sure that the Future Queen is seen out and about sometime during the Easter break, Leonor attended an engagement with her parents and sister.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain along with their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia visited the Center for Attention, Reception, and Referral of Ukrainian Refugees at the Social Security Training Center, Pozuelo de Alarcon in Madrid.
Princess Leonor of Spain, who is a student of first-year International Baccalaureate at the UWC College in Wales, UK is visiting her family during the Easter break that ends on April 20th. It was the Spanish Princess’s first public appearance of the year. We last saw her out and about in public in October 2021 when she attended the weekend-long Princess of Asturias awards. Due to security reasons the visit was embargoed.
Upon arrival at the center, The Royal family was received by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and the Secretary of State for Migration.
Located in the Social Security Training Center, the CAR Center for Care, Collection and Referral of Ukrainian Refugees, supported by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, combines social care with the issuance of documentation by the Police, which allows Ukrainian refugees to obtain residence and work permits within 24 hours and gives them access to health and education, social support, accommodation, and economic aid. Likewise, it provides information on the procedure for requesting asylum and on general topics/questions about accommodation, social support, and economic aid.
The Royal family toured the facilities of the center managed by the NGO Accem and have had the opportunity to greet the Ukrainian families and children sheltered there after fleeing their country after the Russian invasion.

Letizia wore a black blazer with a wide belt teamed up with white trousers and a blacktop. All pieces remain unidentified. She paired it with Hugo Boss ‘Plica’ ballerina pumps, a Karen Hallam ring, and a pair of small diamond earrings.
Following her mother’s steps, Princess Leonor showed her support to the war victims through her sartorial choices. Leonor was wearing a white Sfera blouse with a contrasting black Ukrainian embroidery on it. Thanks to Polka Popp on Twitter for the id. The $25.99 blouse is made of cotton featuring a Crew neckline and embroidered front bodice. Leonor paired it with black ankle-length trousers and Carolina Herrera Lace ballerinas.
Infanta Sofia chose a beige coat with a floral blue blouse and blue trousers that she paired with Pretty Ballerinas Tabitha pumps.
The Royal family used to spend the Easter weekend at the Marivent Palace in Mallorca but this year Felipe and Letizia decided to spend Easter in Madrid and undertook this weekend visit. Only Queen Sofia attended the Easter Mass in Mallorca yesterday.
Princess Leonor is due to fly back to Wales on Wednesday but before leaving, Leonor will attend an individual engagement – Conference on Youth and Cybersecurity: “Enjoy the Internet with Security”, organized by the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) on Wednesday morning. It will be Leonor’s second solo engagement. Her first solo engagement was in March 2021 when she visited the Cervantes Institute in Madrid as part of events marking the Institute’s 30th anniversary.
In other news, Queen Letizia has been named UNICEF Ambassador for children and adolescents’ mental health. The organization wants to highlight the issues faced by children and young people.
Announcing the news, Palace said, “After two long years of the pandemic, mental health has become a growing problem in the population. Cases of depression, anxiety, and other disorders derived from both confinement and the medical, economic, and social uncertainty caused by the covid situation have increased considerably, leaving significant collateral damage to people’s mental health. For this reason, it is a priority issue and UNICEF understands that the Queen is the right person for the position, since she has been very concerned about this issue for years and has made it a prominent part of her official acts”.
Next, we will see Queen Letizia on Thursday, when she and Felipe will attend a lunch in honor of the winner of “Miguel de Cervantes” 2021.
