The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge along with the Earl and Countess of Wessex today attended the second and the last Buckingham Palace garden party of the year. They were also joined by Princess Beatrice of York and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. This was the first time since her marriage that Catherine has attended two Buckingham Palace garden parties in a year.

More than 8000 guests from all walks of life were invited to the afternoon event to thank and commend them for their services to the community. The Duchess of Cambridge reunited with the Holocaust survivor Manfred Goldberg whom she met during Poland’s visit in 2017 and then for a video call in 2021 to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

A video of the day.

Manfred Goldberg is a German-born Jew sent to the ghetto for forced labor and eventually to Stutthof concentration camp near Gdansk in Poland by the Nazis when he was just 14. His younger brother, Herman, was murdered there. Today he arrived with his wife of 61 years, Shary. Rebecca English reported, “Catching sight of Manfred Goldberg and his wife Shary, the duchess broke into a broad smile. ‘Manfred,’ she beamed, ‘it’s so lovely to see you again. How are you? ‘When I saw your name on the guestlist I thought ‘yes!’ I am so happy to see you! ‘How have you been?’”

The guests enjoyed an evening in the Palace garden in windy and rainy weather. Every garden party sees the consumption of over 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches, and 20,000 slices of cake. This year’s delights are being decorated with the Platinum Jubilee theme.

The dress has a high neckline with frayed detailing, a row of a button at the front of the bodice, slightly puffed shoulders and cuffs, and a pleated skirt. We first saw the dress in March 2019 at the 50th anniversary of Prince Charles’ Investiture as Prince of Wales.

In other news, The Duchess of Cambridge held a zoom call discussing infant mental health and health visiting with Parent-Infant Foundation and First 1001 Days. I believe the more details of the said call would be released sometime after the jubilee week.
