Then Letizia visited a static exhibition made up of maps and models of the time in which these sanitary evacuations began and witnessed an air evacuation drill in which an NH90 helicopter from the 803 Squadron of the 48th Wing participated in SAR (search and rescue) maintaining personal protection measures.

Medical air evacuation is one more link in the care chain that allows for improving the short-term and long-term functional prognosis of a patient, carried out with specialized personnel and equipment. The first medical air evacuation missions in Spain took place in 1917 in North Africa. During the civil war, the first squad of air-medicalized ambulances was created, although it was not until 1989, in the Namibia UNTAG mission.
