Queen Letizia of Spain began her 2 days long Cooperation visit today. The destination of this year’s tour is Republic of Colombia. The Spanish Co-operations is working with many developing countries to improve the health, education and social and gender equality by running various projects in these countries.
Queen Letizia was received by the First Lady of Colombia, Verónica Alcocer, at the Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena de Indias who was joined by Joaquín de Arístegui, the Spanish ambassador in Colombia. Letizia arrived in the evening so after greeting the authorities she called it a night.
This was Letizia’s 8th Cooperation trip since her husband Felipe ascended to the throne. Her first trip was to Honduras and El Salvador, in 2015. In 2017 Letizia visited Senegal, in 2018 Dominican Republic and Haiti, in 2019 Mozambique, and in 2020 she was back in Honduras. In the year 2021, the destination was Paraguay and in 2022 she travelled to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
For the next two days, Letizia will be visiting various projects being run by Spanish Cooperation covering multiple fields like Health, education, rural development, gender equality etc.
