King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain undertook their first joint engagement of the week and met with the Ukraine President, Volodímir Zelenski, along with other Political leaders from Europe who were in Granada for the European Political Community Summit. Spain is hosting the summit as the President of the Council of the European Union. This was also Queen Letizia’s first public appearance of the week.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia welcomed the heads of state or government from all 27 EU member states and 20 European nonmembers at the historic and stunning Alhambra Palace. The main focus of the summit is intended to be the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and artificial intelligence.
This was the first time we saw Queen Letizia meeting with the Ukrainian President in Spain. The King and Queen would have met First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in September last year in London when she attended the funeral of Late Queen Elizabeth II and a reception before the funeral hosted by King Charles III. Since Russian invasion in Febrile 2022, The Ukrainian President has been meeting world leaders personally one by one to obtain more support, funding, weapons and ammunition to support Ukrainian armed forces.

After greeting around 50 leaders, the Royal couple attended a dinner with the heads of the states and their spouses/partners. The guests also enjoyed a flamenco show by the singer Marina Heredia. While the King and Queen of Spain has been shouldering the representation of the country on the international stage, the country’s political crisis has yet to be resolved. Since general elections in July, no political leader has been able to obtain the necessary support to form Government.
For the evening, The last Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, was asked to be the host. Earlier this week, after the last nomination was failed, Pedro Sánchez has been nominated to form the government by King Felipe VI.

Heading towards Queen Letizia Style – as always, the stylish Spanish Queen went for a familiar look and a chic style. Queen Letizia was wearing Carolina Herrera Lace Floral tired dress that we first saw on the day 3 of US State visit in June 2018.

The dress featured black sheer bodice with round neckline, a sleeveless A-line silhouette, and a tiered white floral embroidered lace skirt Letizia had the outfit altered to make it more modest.
This time, Queen Letizia paired the outfit with a pair of Harry Winston Diamond Waterfall earrings that she has in her jewel vault since 2014. Thanks to David Rato of spanishroyaljewels for the id confirmation.

Queen Letizia was wearing her black Manolo Blahnik slingback pumps
and carried a matching black Magrit clutch.

Her Corterno ring was not missing either.

Tomorrow, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will be heading to Zaragoza where The Princess of Asturias will be presenting the flag and and join the cadets from her class for the offering to the Virgin of Pilar.
