Queen Letizia of Spain travelled to Fibes – Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla where a special event was being organized to mark the World Day of Rare Diseases and 25th anniversary of Spanish Rare Disease Federation. This year’s logo was motto “In rare diseases, is worth more prevention than curing?” Sevilla holds a special place for the Federation.
The Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases was established in the same city 25 years ago. FEDER’s mission is to promote the rights of those living with a rare disease and in search of diagnosis, generating strategies that contribute to improving their quality of life. Queen Letizia is the Honorary President of the Federation for almost 15 years now. After the greetings and a presentation, Queen Letizia presented the awards marking the 25th anniversary of the Federation.
Speaking at the event, Queen Letizia said, “we are here, to remember that origin of a 25-year history of success. And above all, we are here to recognize all the people who suffer from a rare disease and the families who accompany you on that path. Your strength. Your generosity. Your patience. And your intelligence. And also to recognize that capacity that you demonstrate every day to continue taking care of your sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. Continue caring. “
